Frequently Asked Questions
What is FabFlow, and who is it for?
FabFlow is a cloud-based manufacturing resource planning (MRP) platform purpose-built for fabrication shops. It’s designed for custom fabricators, welding shops, machine shops, sheet metal shops, and structural steel fabricators. Whether you’re a 3-person job shop or a 100-person multi-shift operation, FabFlow adapts to how you work.
How long does it take to get set up?
Most shops are up and running within a day. You can import your existing customer list, material inventory, and open work orders via CSV. Our onboarding team will walk you through configuring your shop stations, labour rates, and quoting templates. We’ve seen shops go from signup to sending their first quote in under two hours.
Does FabFlow integrate with QuickBooks or other accounting software?
Yes. FabFlow integrates with QuickBooks Online, Xero, and Sage. Invoices generated from work orders and quotes sync automatically. We also support CSV export for custom accounting workflows. Enterprise customers can use our API to build custom integrations.
Can I track my shop floor in real time?
Absolutely. FabFlow includes a real-time shop floor dashboard that shows every open work order, its current station, estimated completion, and any flagged issues. Operators clock in and out of work orders via tablet-friendly time-clock screens. Managers see live labour utilization and job progress at a glance.
How does quoting work in FabFlow?
FabFlow’s quoting engine is built for fabrication pricing. You define your stations (cutting, welding, grinding, finishing, etc.), set per-station hourly rates, material markups, and consumable costs. When building a quote, you add operations, materials, and outside services — FabFlow calculates the total with your margins applied. Quotes can be converted to work orders with a single click.
What about quality control and traceability?
FabFlow has full quality management built in. You can create non-conformance reports (NCRs), track material test reports (MTRs) by heat number, attach inspection documents to work orders, and maintain a complete digital trail from raw material receipt to final shipment. Every work order carries full revision history.
Is my data secure?
Yes. FabFlow is SOC 2 Type II certified. All data is encrypted at rest with AES-256 and in transit with TLS 1.3. We run automated hourly backups with point-in-time recovery. Role-based access controls let you define exactly who sees what. For full details, visit our Security page.
Do you offer a free trial?
Yes. We offer a 14-day free trial with full access to all features. No credit card required. You can create quotes, manage work orders, track inventory, and run the shop floor dashboard. If FabFlow isn’t the right fit, you can export all your data before the trial ends.
Can multiple users access FabFlow at once?
Yes. FabFlow supports unlimited users on all plans. Each user gets their own login with role-based permissions. Shop floor operators, foremen, quality inspectors, and administrators each see the features relevant to their role. Our pricing is based on shop size and feature tier, not per-user fees.
What kind of support do you offer?
All plans include email support with a guaranteed response within 4 business hours. Our Pro and Enterprise plans include live chat and phone support during business hours (6 AM – 6 PM Pacific, Monday through Friday). Enterprise customers get a dedicated account manager and priority escalation. We also maintain a growing knowledge base with video tutorials and step-by-step guides.
